New, bigger ESC on the way...

Today I ordered APD's bigger ESC - this one:

Why? Let's just say when powering up the system to check wiring with my new control box and LTO packs today, there was an unfortunate event with my ESC (please don't ask - just accept the term "unfortunate event" and know that I'm still very confident in APD's products). The control box and batteries performed flawlessly. But the said "unfortunate event" led to a conversation with Steve Neu - the proverbial godfather of brushless motors, and he happens to be the guy I get my APD ESCs from. You have probably figured out I'm a big fan of overkill - the LTOs are overkill, the 2 gauge cabling is overkill, the Anderson Power Pole connectors are overkill, my capacitor bank is overkill, my engine is overkill (good for 1,200+ hp) and my trans is overkill (good for 1,800 hp)... you get the idea.

Well, I'm starting to zero in on the limiting factor in my setup. It's the TP Power motor. I don't believe that any of my changes this go round will lead to a large boost increase - I think the motor's simply reaching saturation. The problem is, the current ESC is also right on the edge of what the rest of my setup can provide. The new ESC will set the stage for a big, big jump - a custom made motor from Steve Neu. I still intend to get some track and dyno data in the next month or two, but the real point of the data will be to arm Steve with as much info as I can so he can build me a motor that will let us make (hopefully) well over 750 hp. My new target is 800+ hp for a single e turbo. That's an honest 150 hp more than we're seeing now; and should be reachable on 9-10 psi.

I probably should shoot a video on it, but time isn't on my side at the moment. I did want to share with you all just how remarkably bad I am with money...

Lol. I can fit 4 more cells in my packs if I move the balance boards outside - but don't know if I need them with a custom motor. And I have a plan for even more (guaranteed more) boost... I'll start a thread on it...
