Looks like we're ahead of our time - Kawasaki just jumped on board the e-boost wagon

I saw this article yesterday - and for months I've been thinking about posting a video on my youtube channel called "All Hybrids Are Built Wrong." Now I'll have to change it to "Almost All Hybrids Are Built Wrong":

Yesss ... shows that "Hybrid" for most was too "narrow minded". (If you have a small displacement combustion engine (with the right internals) and use E to just boost it, new economy/efficiency AND power levels can be reached. It would be "hybrid all the time" instead of hybrid like either combustion or E-Drive.)

soooo ... can they really patent the term "E-Boost" in Japan, while many products and experiments (not only @AlexLTDLX , but e.g. Phantom, TorqAmp and partially Audi and many YouTube documented individual projects) are publicly "documented"?

Yeah, having an e turbo hybrid definitely is more efficient than simply dumping that electrical power to the wheels - you get a greater return. Similar to a heat pump vs resistive heating. As for the copyright thing, I dunno. You can't patent a word or phrase - but you can trademark one. I think they'd have a tough time in court trying to defend that one. Whatever. I'm not a huge fan of protecting info like this with patents and such - it's too ubiquitous and there are a myriad of potential approaches. There is one aspect of my setup that I might consider patenting, but the reality is I don't have the means to defend it anyway; particularly against some sort of large corporation. The story of the guy who invented intermittent windshield wipers comes to mind (although he actually won after a time). But as you point out, there are too many companies and individuals working on the basic concept. I haven't done a patent search, but I'm sure the core idea of an electric forced induction device exists and has been patented a while ago.

I'm frankly more excited about more OEMs jumping on board this bandwagon. I've taken a bit of a gamble that this idea will catch on (not just the youtube stuff, but also this forum). And I'm more about the development than the shadier business elements of it. That's probably why I'm not rich. Besides, the Chinese will just knock these off after a time anyway. Good luck enforcing any intellectual property against them. They may do a crappy job, but it would blow the doors open to many people who can't afford to "do it right." Sort of like the massive influx of cheap lathes and mills.

And that makes us all pioneers! :)
lets jump on it bro! maybe set up a zoom meeting between the forum members and start brainstorming. there are enough of us to get work done and spread out enough to sieze a huge piece of the demand. Maybe a zoom meeting between interested members to discuss for whoever is interested?

For sure I am interested! BUT the knowledge you all have is way better then me! I can build, it work but I have basics knowledge. Don't know if all the infos on this forum is a must but all I did was pretty straight foward and not that much research

A zoom meeting is a great idea! For me it would have to be after October 10th - I'm literally working every day (and in the evenings on my e turbo) until we shoot the return of "Pinks: All Out"; which is in Gulfport, MS on October 8th and 9th (that's exciting and busy too!)

I'll put up a post here to see what days/times works for everyone.
