How does a 2 pole LMT motor work?

I read that the rotor was first assembled, then magentized. From what I understand, it is so difficult to magnetize Neodymium, that you can't magnetize them assembled. I know you can do that withceramic magents, but they are pretty weak. So I'd guess either SmCo magnets, or Alnico magnets.
I did ask the LMT guys about temps, and he said that my temps (about 130-140* F - about 55-60* c was "laughably low.") Considering neodymium magnet start to gradually lose their magnetic strength at 80* c (but recover), and by 100* c they suffer permanent demagnetization; maybe they're using something different, as you surmise.

Finally got this broken (cheap!) unit in. I was hoping that it would be just a small portion of the magnet broken, but no such luck. Oh well, its a good mockup unit now.

FYI, these motors have 12 slots. You can custom order one with 12 phase wires coming out instead of 6. This means you can run 2 cheaper (say 2 63V 500 amp controllers) to get the same power! And since they are offset 30 degrees electrically apart (and since its a 2 pole, 30 degrees mechanically also), it will be slightly more efficient, and smoother (closer to sinusoidal).
The magnets came apart (also the shaft is bent as well). It was locked up when I got it, so not 100% sure of the cause. Yes, the front cap threads on. You can also see that the magnets are in fact small rings, then glued together and glued on the shaft (ill post more pics in a bit)
Fist pic is one I found online of one with 12 phase leads coming out. Next is my stator (here is where you can see the "slots"), then the pile of magnetic material, then the rotor shaft. Any other detailed pics anyone want to see?
