I have a catamaran with a John Deere 4045TFM85 M2 4.5L 4 cylinder diesel (port side) which has a low boost turbo and no intercooler and is rated at 125hp.
There is a much higher power version of the same engine 4045TFM85 M4 which is rated at 315hp. The main differences are a higher boost turbo, intercooler and 4 valves per cylinder.
I'd like to get more power out if my engine and increase efficiency with a higher boost with a P2 electric supercharger and also an intercooler.
I already have massive 48v battery which powers a 50kW electric propulsion motor on the starboard side, so powering electric turbo is no issue.
Marine engines need to run for long periods so I'm unsure about the robustness of the P2 Supercharger solution.
Any thoughts whether this is a good idea for a relatively simple way to get more power are appreciated.
