    Gearing Up Motors

Right lol, yeah I'm trying to figure out what I need to allow my 12v alternator to charge my new and improved 48v battery. Unless you'd going to tell me to convert my entire car to 48vs :-)

Ok, 50,000 rpm is good I will use a larger turbo so I can get more at a lower rpm. Thanks working on this now

Can you recommend 12v to 48 or 60, step up converter. My alter story puts out 100amp most of the ones I see are rated at 20a

    Gearing Up Motors

Ok thanks. I'm gonna start at 60v and 20 to 50ah and build a system around that. When it comes to motors and esc anything specific I should look for? Maybe a 2500 or 3000kv motor with a good brand name that can handle 100 amps and 60v.

Is it ok to step up the 12v system to 48 or 60 or do i need to start with the higher voltage battery then step up after the alternator to charge it. I'm thinking something like this could be a good start...

    Gearing Up Motors

Is this best to build a battery that can handle that, it looks like they are a few thousand dollars to buy. Thats 60v 300ah correct? Some of these battery claim high amperage but low ah, i assume the high amperage is for burst not long term use. Like cranking amps on a car battery. So if this...

    Gearing Up Motors

Your running 48v 20 ah correct? What are you moving to? Based on Awesome's calcs that would be way underpowered, does your electric motor spool up quick or slow attached to the turbo? Can you show your me your setup? How did you connect the motor to the back of the compressor wheel? I have...

    Gearing Up Motors

Ok wow, that's the info I was trying to figure out. I have never been to a Dyno, I measure hp roughly by using lb/min and street tune my car. So what would you say I needed to get 20psi at 3500rpm? That would be sufficient* That's about a 40k spin on the turbo The larger the turbo the less...

Where do I find those? Any brands?

    Gearing Up Motors

Ok my current setup on my 96 Eagle Talon TSI 4cylinder. 1.) Fully built motor ( I built it last year) 2.) HX35 turbo running 35psi of boost, puts me around 550 - 600hp. I get full boost at 4000 - 4500 RPM and ride it to 7500 This is a hobby for me and my car runs fine like it is so I will be...

    Gearing Up Motors

From everything I have read gearing up a motor isn't the best route to take because it lower electrical efficiency greatly and will cause lots of heat and ultimately kill my motors. I need to get any combination of motors to 100000 rpm's on 12v. My thoughts - Buy one high rpm motor, there are...

    What batteries are you using?

ok thanks, will read the threads. What is Alex's users name so i can look up his threads.

    What batteries are you using?

Ok is that all it will go is 4-5psi isn't much, so your using the 15 lifepo4 batteries at 20ah. At 5psi your spinning the turbo to around 50k rpm's which maxes out most direct drive electric motors of this size. You could easily gear it up 2:1 to make it double that speed to 100k rpm and...

    What batteries are you using?

Are you running a blower or turbo? Do you get full boost of the device?

    What batteries are you using?

I'm going to use 2 rc motors gear them up 3 : 1 to produce around 100000 - 150000 rpms to spin the turbo. Two motors should help keep them cool and not have to much load on each one. That will give full boost on a GT45 or HX35, i currently run an HX35 on my DSM. Its a 4 cylinder turbo...

    What batteries are you using?

Ok, so realistically how much ah do we need based on your experience? I get what your saying with LifePO4, it can continuously release power for a longer time period than LTO.

    What batteries are you using?

When you say capacity how do you measure that? Was your alternator charging it while driving?

    What batteries are you using?

Has anyone tried to use the car audio batteries? You can get them at very high amperage and charge them with your alternator at 12v. I'm new to this just creating my plan and could build a battery pack but would rather buy something. What are the ups and downs to these? They are used for 1000's...
