I just assumed they would be about the same size, give or take a few mm

I bought a Hobbywing ESC - Is this our Holy Grail?

I think you would be better off having more amps in battery pack than trying some complicated system to dynamically adjust the number of cells in the circuit. People have a lot of mixed feelings about elon musk and spacex but I think their philosophy of the best part being no part is a step in...

Everything does 🤣 I put a 4.36 final drive gear in it which is what kills the millage

Want to build 500Hp electric turbo, people with experience please chime in

Good to know. I had been thinking of an intake bypass but decided I didn't want to increase the complexity. I decided that so long as the car is not a hindrance in traffic that I could live with the loss. 1psi is something like 6% at sea level I think, I doubt anyone would notice that in rush...

Want to build 500Hp electric turbo, people with experience please chime in

Yea, the fender well is a better name for the location it is in. I 3d scanned the well to help design all the parts I need to build. In the photo the left is the wheel cover, the right is the inside of the bumper cover. The last photo gives a good idea of the setting, the green line I drew on...

    RX8 Renesis Rotary eSC

My Nissan does 5.3km per liter when pottering around in town at normal road speeds, on 98 petrol it is also uneconomical. On the open road it can get almost 8km per liter 🤣 I think that works out at 12mpg for our American friends around town, and 19ish on the highway. or 19 liters per 100km...

Want to build 500Hp electric turbo, people with experience please chime in

I am fortunate in this regard, I am able to put the unit in front of the left wheel and wall it off from the engine bay and get easy access to fresh air from the front

Wow, 30% more air and fuel, that must be why people say they are uneconomical

Want to build 500Hp electric turbo, people with experience please chime in

I bought these on Ali Express, I can fit two comfortably on a motor, and will find some suitable heat transfer material. I don't think CPU heat paste will work because of the constant vibrations. I haven't worked out how to get air flow around them yet but I am sure I will work something out...

1000hp is tough to be up against. Roll racing at Mere Mere is a new concept for me. My main goal here is to get my 1850kg Nissan Fuga (Infiniti M45 for the Americans) down the track in under 12.63 seconds, that being the time my son set on his motorbike. No boost it does 13.9-14.1ish last...

    RX8 Renesis Rotary eSC

What was the issue, were the caps drawing too much current when charging? My project has hit pause, I decided I needed to buy a "sensible daily driver", then I decided it needed new wheels (these are the old factory wheels), then I decided to flush the fluids and replace them and the filters...

    Scary battery purchase time

Lower voltage because I was thinking about heat build-up with the motors, plus 1:2 ratio is easy maths to do. I have 2 of these from Aliexpress for each motor, 30mm wide, 70mm ID, which I need to source some heat transfer goop to 'glue' them on with. Yes, I will be controlling the speed...

    Scary battery purchase time

I ended up with 48 of them, going 16s3p so 36 to 38 volts, with the speedmaster P2, and I have 2 of the ezrun 70125s and a max4 esc for each. The motors are a 540kv so maybe 20k rpm from them and something like 1:2 gearing to increase the impeller speed on the P2 to 35k+ I want to use it on a...

What BMS are you using? And the capacitor up front seems like a good idea. I am planning a second alternator just to charge the batteries. I am replacing the power steering pump with an electric one from a volvo and will mount the second alternator in the original ones place.

My intro - small displacement (1.8L) challenges

Yea it is a bit quiet, still a niche concept and it is sort of competing with almost off the shelf kits. But that is also what makes it cool

planning for my E-SC powered Nissan Fuga has begun

I think that Alex used a different motor. I am just going with his assessment that the P2 compressor is a copy of the Vortech Si. The Ezrun 70125 motors are paired with the Ezrun Max4 ESC's. Hobbywing say 12s Lipo as max voltage, so 44v. I won't be directly driving the compressors, pulleys...

planning for my E-SC powered Nissan Fuga has begun

I have 2 of them, so I need to design that, and will be gearing up. But it is an unknown. I have tried to get a compressor map from the P2 manufacturer but they have never responded to any communication. With 48v the BLDCs can get to over 25k rpm, and if Alex is correct and it is basically...
