I bought a Hobbywing ESC - Is this our Holy Grail?

Hi all - I've been innundated with all kinds of stuff. Life was supposed to ease up by now, but instead things got even more chaotic. But I'm still doing my best to keep up the research on my end. This Black Friday I took advantage of another sale on a P2 supercharger (for those counting at...

Connecting the motor to the compressor

Maybe we can get WB Projects to answer - he started from a turbo too. Except for the tiny one, all of my "real" ones started with a supercharger, making things a bit easier, since I was just using the existing bearings.

    Arduino code, help needed

Actually, I could use some help - I'm putting my setup back on and would like to address a couple of issues I had. I'll email you. Thanks!

The Sledgehammer - Shooting for 1,000hp

Unfortunately, we lost a few posts in this thread thanks the the ruzzian hack. But things are coming along; if you follow my youtube channel, you'll know I'm also working on moving, which involves building a barndominium on the Texas coast. Here's where I was a couple of weeks ago: As for...

Hacked By ruzzians... Lost Posts & Security Tips

We were hacked by ruzzians and down for a bit less than 48 hours. You'll notice a number of lost posts (mostly the most recent ones) - we recovered the vast majority of posts, and are now back up and running. We've taken some security measures, but if you have suggestions how to keep the...

I'm sorry to hear about the delay, but glad things are still moving ahead.

Is TorqueAmp financially comparable to DIY?

When you get it, can you start a thread on it? Preferably with videos? I think most of us here want to see a real-world experience with it.

    E turbo'd Suzuki Swift Build

That about sums up how I feel too. Though I do think some of the new high C rate LiFePo4 cells are worth looking at (the higher voltage means fewer cells needed), but you'll still end up weighing and costing the same to match what the LTOs are capable of - the real advantage would be more ah...

GOOD NEWS FOR THE WB E-TURBO

Glad things are looking up for you WB; MSA - sorry to hear about that - you're not alone - I've been burned twice; one time it ended up ok, another time not so much...

    RHF55 compressor map

I think my next steps outside of the sledgehammer development will be to see how the VESC plays with the castle motor/belt driven P2 setup, an then try to go with a multi-motor geared setup.

How does a 2 pole LMT motor work?

Thanks! That covers it nicely. Your info is pure gold! (y)

    RHF55 compressor map

When I go into something like the long oil-less diatribe, it's not to put anyone down; it's more to explain my thought process, usually before I do things. I'm not always right and am eager to hear any opposing viewpoints - since you don't really learn anything from people agreeing with you...

How does a 2 pole LMT motor work?

That's pretty damn cool to know. Thanks. And what happened to that motor? Also, does the front plate thread in?

    RHF55 compressor map

MSA - Actually, all of the major centrifugal manufacturers now how oil filled units - Vortech, Procharger, Torqstorm and your Rotrex. I have seen a good number of failures of these units, almost all in the gear drive. Procharger is particularly bad about this; but they undersize their gear...

    RHF55 compressor map

Turbos generally use journal bearings, which require an oil film; there are some ball bearing units, and they tend to last longer simply because they don't need nearly as much lubrication. Pretty much all of the superchargers I've run personally were self-contained, oil-filled units. None had...

    RHF55 compressor map

I'm thinking about trying the gear drive setup, but using two or three motors all driving the same impeller gear. Much cheaper and more compact. And I wouldn't worry about lube on the gears - RC cars don't, and we're not running anywhere near as long as they do.
