Here is the supercharger I would start with...

only thing I am not so comfortable with are the 6 (not 4?!?) wimpy m4 screws holding the motor ... quite some weight hanging there when the motor is horizontal. Some bumps later ... gulp. For the long run some additional clamp around the motor body might be indicated ... (yeah I know small...

Here is the supercharger I would start with...

Regarding step up or down : depends a lot on your eMotors specs and what voltage u r running and where you want to end up with your impeller rpms. I intend to run the TP power 1000KV motor I have here with around 48V (or so after voltage drop) ... I think Alex wants to run his 750KV TP power...

    BMS & Chargers

I like to do a holistic top level plan, but yes, then execution is iterative starting with a MVP (minimum viable product). So ... after getting some core components like: - TP 1KV motor (meeeh, that was rushed) - P2 blower, pulleys, belt (the right stuff!) - all the missing tools (like clamp...

VESC - Land of 1,000,000 choices

yeayyyy! GREAT success! I could see the sweat pearls on your forehead at some points in time though (especially when the motor autodetect started). And I could see as well the non linearity of the "throttle" so many people had to overcome 😁 It was very cool to see 30000 erpm (10000 motor rpm)...

    BMS & Chargers

As for a good onboard DC-DC charger (12->48, 70A) people swear by Sterling Power PRO BATT Ultra BB1247870 https://sterling-power.com/products/2015-battery-to-battery-chargers-non-waterproof-drip-proof-ip21 since I really want a working CC-CV algo for my 48V LifePo4 ;)

not sure you can see the difference: M5 pitch with D hole and set screws ... the T5 is unmachined/virgin.

Here is the supercharger I would start with...

and here some more shots: as you can see with the 260 length the pulley bore (TP motor axis) ends up approx at those empty threaded bolt holes on the blower backplate. BTW ... although we need T5 pitch pulleys as well I was curious and ordered some M5 pitch pulleys which I found here...

Here is the supercharger I would start with...

Alex ... it is 18 teeth! (mark a tooth with a sharpy and count again ;) , and 18teeth seems to be kind of standard step!) And the MEDWAY T5-260 25mm wide is perfect! see post #31 and following (shoot ... MEDWAY pdf is too large for upload)

VESC - Land of 1,000,000 choices

great news ... so you dug through all/most of the settings jungle on the VESC software. Particularly interesting this VESC topic. (and once you have the mgm/lmt stuff you would be the first to have both "kits" on my short list 😛) Btw: MGM do not list the biggest motor LMT 30100 and the biggest...

    What batteries are you using?

Nice! But even their baddest packs come with 10 AWG cables (only). So for us builders we at least need to think about 2-3p just for the cabling (the C rating / IR already seems awesome) pulling those multiple hundreds of amps (not just peaks!). Has a direct impact on cost as well 😁

    Happy New Years All!

Happy New Year, All! Thanks Alex! The ripple effect of Covid is still having effect on all of us, either directly or inderectly. I personally am looking more "aggressively" into 2022 trying to "fix, recover and improve" on many fronts too. As for this project: like with other tinkering...

    What batteries are you using?

... and the compress/not compress (fixture) topic is controversial! But if I decide to do it, then thinking about using an airbag like solution (with an air bag door wedge e.g.?) What batteries are you using?

I got mostly inspired by Nabil Hanke here: I think my connectors will be a variant of the above! (some clamping of tabs with the right size bus bars and some screws not going through the tabs themselves, maybe?) there are of course the "simpler" methods like: but I like Nabils Idea much...

    What batteries are you using?

nothing special yet ... this is how 64 8Ah 30C pouch cells look like ... arrived and stacked in prep for testing 😛 BRAND NEW apparently! took 2 arbitrary of those lifepo4 pouches and did AC IR test with my YR2035+ : 0.51 and 0.52 milli Ohms ! Not bad for lifepo4! (and considering I am planning...

so ... my Battery Odyssey so far: I had picked A123 Systems AHR32113 as my batteries of choice. (nanophosphate 4Ah, 70C cylindrical LFPs) for a 16S5P configuration. (~48V, 20Ah) The first seller had to return my money because of "shipping irregularities" (fake shipping, fake tracking number...
