I use a 12-48v on board charger made for RV vehicles that I bought off Aliexpress. My Alternator is a stock OEM 100A 12v. The charger is designed to charge while the battery is being discharged and this is how I'm running it. So far no issues at all with that. I have noticed that it pulls a few...
This is something I'm a little unsure of. The AMPs the ESC records don't seem to corelate with what's coming out of the battery. I noticed that on one of Alex's videos the cable to ESC was flowing 265A yet the ESC recorded 320A+. Maybe @AlexLTDLX can clarify ?
I've seen as much as 260A at 47 volts. The thing is that it seems to me that I'm at the point where there are diminishing returns when putting in more power/changing the pulley ratio. Changing the motor should tell me whether that is in fact the case.
Something that many here may not be aware of...
I think I've got the same bug Alex has! Bigger (70125) motor coming to replace the Castle 2028.
Really feel like the car has to make close to 300whp for the eSC to make the statement I want it to. This motor should get me close - fingers xd.
Did some roll racing with it yesterday. Was thereabouts against most of the cars but not really competitive. Need moa powa!
Below was vs 1000+HP Dodge with a big Whipple ..... bit of a no contest but I did stay in front for a wee while.
Check out the commentary at the end of the run
With some help from an EE I managed to sort out the issues with the capacitor. Saw definite improvements but overall it's only marginally quicker than it was with the Lipos . But sooooo much more practical now with the LTOs vs the Lipos.!
The capacitor created problems for me. Needs a circuit that slows down the charging of it, which I thought was above my abilities, so I just removed it .
Upgraded batteries/BMS/Charger installed and operational. Over the moon with how well it all works. Some numbers from the BMS show 10kw at high rpm which lines up pretty well with what I was expecting.
Just one I found on Aliexpress for LTOs 'ANT smart BMS' rated for 220A (550A peak) . I have no idea about these .... but am hoping it wont be too much of a mission to hook up - doesn't look too hard. I found my stock 100A alternator could easily manage the 35A charger I had previously. The new...
Update , a month or so back I decided to make a small change to the wiring. Wanted to have the charging wire such that it could be isolated with flick of a switch instead of constantly connected to the batteries. In the process of making this change I managed to short the batteries to ground for...
