    P2 Supercharger Thread

I sent you a pm; a lot of these questions will be answered in my upcoming vids... sry to be brief; but very busy atm.

I bought a Hobbywing ESC - Is this our Holy Grail?

I don't look at ESCs in terms of cell count. Simply because, as wkerstens says, you can use a lot of different chemistries to power these things, most of which have different operating voltages. I use cell count spec to determine maximum voltage of an ESC. Also I don't typically run my packs...

HELP with my Pontiac Solstice PLEASE...turbo/supercharger advice.

The Torqamp is pretty weak - it's only 5kW. You'd see some power gains, but not much - mostly a boost in midrange torque. To support 300 hp (for example), you'd need about 8kW minimum. That said, sometimes power adders aren't your friend. There are a lot of tricks you can do to see improved...

Not off the top of my head. I've been installing concrete anchors for the last 3 days.

Does turbo under boost have any axial load?

Lol. I would not recommend trying that. That's a quick way to have your friends call you stumpy. The first time you run one under power, you'll see what I mean. That said, when I was doing my testing, even mounted to the relatively heavy aluminum test bracket, it would easily fly off under...

    P2 Supercharger Thread

I have two of these. The bearings they come with aren't the greatest, but so far no problems. Run it in for a bit, and if you're not happy, you can always drop in better bearings. Considering the price point, I didn't expect high end bearings.

Want to build 500Hp electric turbo, people with experience please chime in

On a 500 hp NA engine, it's equivalent to 1 psi boost "loss." So it's not actually noticeable on the street.

Want to build 500Hp electric turbo, people with experience please chime in

I would not put the unit in a hot engine bay directly; particularly over any exhaust components. The magnets in a brushless motor can start to demagnetize above 180* F. Low mounted in front is fine (mine is next to my radiator), pulling in air from the fender well, or you could mount it in the...

    Where Have I Been? *Update*

First of all, thanks to all of you for keeping this forum alive. I have been working 7 days a week to get "Alex Labs" up and running. The goal is a video studio with a dyno so I can continue with electric supercharger development and testing (among other things). It's been 3 years and one...

Want to build 500Hp electric turbo, people with experience please chime in

I initially had a water jacket cooling system on my setup, but found that it wasn't necessary with adequate airflow. Heck, even without adequate airflow, these things don't really run long enough to get much more than warm. As to why I push the P2 so hard (I get nothing from people buying...

    Meth injection tuning.

If you're not in boost, then your stock maps aren't affected. I've been running my methanol setup to turn on and off with the electric supercharger. It does spike the AFR rich while the electric supercharger spools up; but it's so quick that it's not an issue - thick accel pump shot. I can...

I bought a Hobbywing ESC - Is this our Holy Grail?

Spec-wise, it looks better than the MAX4. However, it is significantly smaller and lighter than the MAX4. FWIW, I wasn't over-volting the ESC. They are rated for 12S; with each cell having a max voltage of 4.2 volts - which gives you 50.4 volts. The caps inside are rated for 63 volts. I...

    Scary battery purchase time

I initially did a water jacket/pump cooling type setup. I found that the air movement of the car was more than enough to keep the motor cool. As long as you have some degree of airflow, you'll probably be ok. I do want to put a bunch of these in the back of an SUV or truck, in which case...

    Scary battery purchase time

Oh I bet those cells weren't cheap. I've been looking at those motors as well; tbh the higher kv of the Castle motors is what keep me using them. Why only 36-38 volts? I think you'll find you'll need about 20s packs to run them at full power (voltage sag and all). Of course, this is...

    Dyno has arrived!

Hi All - I know I've been under the radar for a while now - moving in to barndominium, unpacking stuff, still working on the building & property quite a bit. But I really needed to move forward with thing on the electric supercharger front. After all, the whole point of this move was to be...

    Scary battery purchase time

Those should be very potent. My LTO cells are only 18 amp hr and have no issues putting out 678 amps running the sledgehammer. How many did you buy, and what motor/ESC/compressor will you be using?

    JLR electric turbo

That thing looks neat; I did mess around with VESC for a while and had problems with repeatability and high eRPM performance. How many poles does the motor have? The lower the better as far as VESC and high speed running is concerned.

    2L Opel GT e-boost build

Nice. Sorry I've not been focusing on this forum - the barndominium build has been all consuming. But we're nearing the end. Stainless may not be the best choice, since it does tend to warp a lot more than say mild steel, but I'm honestly just guessing. I do know that in my talks with...
