Kind of a retirement and tourism community but Rockport is one of the nicer places on the Texas Gulf Coast. I do have a hobby machine shop with some vintage but capable machines. A 1902 LeBlond 14" swing lathe and a 1915 Cincinnati No3 horizontal mill. Got a vertical head for the mill but...
The Rotrex C15-60 is a nice fit for the GM 2.8L V-6 that is my target engine. Conveniently the Rotrex datasheet give a moment of inertia for electric applications. The Rotrex C-15 has an internal planetary gear drive with a 12.67:1 ratio. The current concept is to run a direct drive and...
GeB was one of the others I found. I looked on their site and they show various A123 batteies with different specs. I would have thought that A123 was trademarked but that may not mean much in China. Probably the same thing for patents.
At 300+ amps the ESC temp never reached steady state. Any data on how long it took the ESC to cool back down? Since my project is for a sports car, I need to be able to get on and off the throttle while driving winding roads. I'll have plenty of battery capacity just wondering if there is an...
I did some battery shopping today and this is what I see based on Alibaba pricing:

Yinlong LTO 2.3V 30 Ah prismatic - $24 each
Yinlong LTO2.3V 40 Ah cylindrical - $36 each
Lishen LTO 2.5V 16 Ah cylindrical - $10 each
Lishen LTO 2.5V 18 Ah cylindrical...
After more searching it seems like the 10000 Farad super cap invented by Sunvault is still a pipe dream. However Maxwell has available a 3400 Farad 3V cap. Also, Skeleton a German company has announced they are coming out with a 5000 Farad super cap in 2023. So I played with some numbers...
Where on the gulf coast? I worked for 21 years in Corpus Christi prior to retirement.
The software I can access is quick and easy so if anybody needs calculations performed just let me know.
I stumbled across this when researching super capacitors. With 10000 farads it would be possible to power a 10kW motor for 15 seconds with a 24 volt voltage drop.

My name is Scott Anderson. I am a semi-retire chemical engineer with 41 years of experience in the petroleum refining industry. I still consult part-time. I have a car hobby specializing in Pontiac Fieros. I have interest in developing an electric supercharger for a 1986 Fiero with a 2.8L...
