Btw ... just a quick comment re OBD->RPi : IFF you go BT, remember: standard BT (serial) stacks are not known for connection reliability and speed! ELM chips are not "fast" enough either ... if you want to close the loop reliably to your ECU data channels: stick to direct link...
Actually we always need to keep our vision sharp and be ready to re evaluate.
On the other hand I know that Alex is
a) not shallow in his conclusions (unlike me sometimes shooting from the hip) and
b) has meanwhile burnt much more lesson cash than anyone of us.

ok ... I just multiplied 300A (the esc rating) with 50V(~12s lipo esc and motor rating) since it is sold as a combo as is from HW ... maybe I have used too much "over the thumb" estimates 😉
as for the VESC:
as long as the relively complicated (trigonometry! yeah I know you can work with approx tables and do int arithmetic vs float but still "expensive") FOC calculations are completely done in software and the VESC compute power is what it is right now (and us running 4 pole motors...

It occurs to me that the 2028 is quite close to the HW 56113 800KV in dimensions (minus sensor). The HW 56113 is "rated" 8s max...

I have not yet come to it, but I was thinking of tapping into the OBDII bus and digest process additionally RPM and MAP (or load if available). The response to TPS alone is flawed since on modern EFI systems with drive by wire TPS is an "outcome" of what the ECU(!, and they are different...

I actually never feel offended or similar ... I know that we all come from different experiences and perceptions ... different histories.
I have learnt a LOT here ... and at the same time sometimes my gutt feeling was telling me...
@WB projects ... just make sure the thrust effect is taken care of!
(the impeller shoving air WILL put axial load on the shaft! And the impeller moving ever so slightly out will kiss the volute... again)
